Question:
Let's say we shoot video on a Canon XH-A1 in 1080i/60i and edit in Final Cut Pro. We don't have a BETA deck of our own - so we have to burn the footage to a dual layer DVD, take it to a TV station & have them transfer it to BETA. What format should we burn the project to disc using to avoid past problems of a trailing image ( "Shutter effect") when broadcast ? The last show was exported as HD and transferred to tape - which gave a better result.

Answer:
Hi Darin, First let me apologize for taking almost a month to answer this question. This is a new addition to the website so we are still trying to get all of our ducks in a row...plus we had a massively busy third quarter with some of the show deadlines. Anyway, we produce BCQTV and edit that in the HDV codec on the timeline. We export as an HDV Quicktime file as well and bring the file to the Closed Captioning house on a small hard drive. This seems to be the best way for us to deliver the show to the networks on Beta in a high res...still analog, though. Hope this answered your question...probably a little too late. Thanks for submitting and checking out our site! -Jason
